Not exactly SMT but something I recently did that might save you lots of time and money: Complex high $ assy that has 25+ conformal coat keep out areas - most different shapes. All locations are dimensioned on customers' print. We tried a one piec

I will be starting a conformal coating process soon, I am looking for any pointers on 1) Best method for masking components, tape mask, liqued mask 2) Which is best Spray or Dip? 3) Compatiblity with no clean solder paste (flux residue) I have Mil

Looking into possibly receiving samples of polyester masking dots for conformal coating. Our usage of polymide dots have really increased in the past months and we're always looking for a reduction in costs. The only information I've found is that po

In the past, I've used kapton tape for masking, as well as masking tape and solder mask as you've described. I've also used dummy connectors, or connector caps to cover connectors/pins. In the end, though, I'm not sure any of these methods decrea

I actually bought this tape directly from a disrupter of Saint-Gobain series M797. It was placed on 6" x 9" sheets to have unique conformal coating masking cut outs made. Took some effort to get the process worked out but all is well now.

Yes - the frame is built to nominal per print then the tape pieces are placed into areas in the frame as required. I had the stencil house cut #'s into the frames designating each different size. When I cut the tape pieces, I put them on a large, s

The adhesive type is the problem generally - latex adhesives used are not compatible with the silicone. Humiseal offer silicone compatible tapes & dots although they are quite expensive. I found a 3M product which is compatible with silicone based co

I am using masking tape, the 3M high temp blue masking tape. the problem though doesnt seem to be related to the masking tap as i am seeing pin holes and eventual dewets over entire ckt board (its almost as if the board has chickenpox under black lig
