hi, I am a Hardware designer . One of my products is undergoing a Reliability test in which a resistor shows a high value on board from its specified value .However it retains the original value when its cooled under room temperature. The resistor

To dyoungquist - I understand that situation. I can see where that is possible in the case that your paste has gone a bit dry. As you said, not neccessarily the recommended practice, and yes your print regularity can go out the door. However, I th

If you are satisfied with the apertures, then you need to check placement pressure, plant humidity, and the reflow profile. If the placement pressure is too great, it will separate minute portions of the solder from the pad. When the solder reflo

In my experience, solder balls are normally caused by only a few things. In order of likelyhood: 1) Water based fluxes (VOC-Free)not having the water carrier completely dried from the board before going into the solder. I.E, too fast conveyor spee

In response to hegemon... This is not a recommended practice but..... We have added a few drops of water soluble flux to our water soluble solder paste when the paste is on the stencil. This was after the paste had "dried" out a bit. We have had

So, you toss whatever is on the stencil every 8 hours. Correct? How long has it been on the stencil? * If that particular paste has been on the stencil for 8 hours, we'd agree to toss it too. * If paste has been on the stencil for less than 8 hour

Your solder paste is talking to you, follow its message. Listen to the paste. Be at one with the paste. If you insist on ignoring the message of the paste, add more paste, if you just need to complete the last board or so, but you really should ju

Thanks for the info, Here is a couple more questions (and you thought you were done) What size are these caps /res? how thick is your stencil? what type of oven are you using? what is the finish of the board? Anyway, it seems like (from a distance)t
