SMTnetters: Does anyone have experience in the average programming time that they use for calculating costs on using a solder dispense and place process for QFN rework? How about average cycle time from start to finish for same? We are comparing it

I agree, the only way to "truly" inspect a QFN is with an X-ray. But this might be over-kill for him. He asked about soldering, not inspection. We use QFN's regularly and you can inspect these parts from the side to see if they are soldered. Unfo

I have a small 5mmx5mm 32 pin QFN I need to program and want to find a way to do it automatically. Companies like Xeltek charge $100,000 for an automated programmer and I think it can be done with a regular pick and place machine by placing QFN into

Land grid devices [ie, BCC, LGA, QFN, MicroLeadFrame, etc] are essentially BGA devices with the balls removed and with no solder on the pads. Search the fine SMTnet Archives for background discussion.

What test is applicable to check for QFN package with NiPdAu leadframe if leads/pad are solderable? what are the options other than dip and look solderability testing? Thanks,

Hi, all. There is one 0.8mmX0.8mm QFN on almost of our PWBAs. But the quality report showed that we got bad solder quality for this component. My question is which elements are the root cause for this situation frequently? Thanks.
