I ordered it, but due to the fact that the ISBN number posted on the website is exactly the same as another electronics manufacturing book (don't recall which one) I received the wrong book! Should have bought it directly from the website.

Heller did a tall tunnel for a customer in Florida a few years ago for a very similar application. As I recall, it was 3". Marc Peo or Don DeAngelo at Heller shold remember the details.

This is similar to a previous posting here on SMTnet, where, as we recall, one response suggested using a solder alloy with less tin.

Does anyone know exactly why these machines bombed the way they did? I have never heard of anyone out there who still has these machines. Were they recalled from fuji? What exactly happened to all the machines that were out in the field? Anyone know?

I don't recall seeing a battery anywhere on the boards on the magazines. I'd give MyData a call, and ask them about it. They're pretty good on the phone. Might be the battery used for electrical verification . Good luck!

Thanks Jim. Pressing the QFN into paste was what I thought of, just wasn't sure if it would cause solder paste to be pressed outside the pad area and possibly bridge with an adjacent pad. Do you recall the ratio of paste coverage to the pad area?
