Warpage at Wave Soldering Stage

Electronics Forum | Mon Jun 14 07:23:42 EDT 1999 | Vinesh Gandhi

We are a medium sized PCB assy. house manufacturing about 2000 motherboards a day. There is a major problem we are facing at the wave soldering stage, i.e. warpage of the PCB. As soon as the PCB touches the wave it warps severely from the centre to

We do not have problems with preheating. before we used to suspect that the cause of tombstone was that because the semi-auto and manual version do not have pre-heat stage. We had 1 with an IR heater and it is quite okay. you can use it too to cure a

Russ: If its true that they have been reworked to HASL I guess that something went awefully wrong at that stage. If you have some bareboards left have them checked thoroughly. M2C Wolfgang

Re: Reflow Profile Dry Out Stage

I should explain that this bake out was performed after population. The solder paste slumped terribly after this bake out. However, after the back out and after reflow, no bridging.

Feeder tracking

Electronics Forum | Tue Nov 14 06:30:53 EST 2000 | colin marshall

I am at the early stages of investigating how we could track our m/c feeders. Obviously the theory of this is quite simple but I am finding a lack of information on the net. Could anyone suggest a method or software package for this purpose.Any info

Re: AOI for SMT as well as Thru-Hole

Electronics Forum | Fri Oct 06 11:08:08 EDT 2000 | Peter Loten

Generally AOI machines find SMT inspection easier than Thru Hole. We manufacture a mchine desighned for mixed technology boards including large components (75mm high). Solder inspection is now possible at the post reflow stage.

Applying past with CamAlot

Electronics Forum | Wed Aug 22 14:24:39 EDT 2001 | markhoch

I used a CamAlot 5000 to apply conductive epoxy on an aluminum substrate about 4 years ago. I used the largest diameter nozzle CamAlot had, and I bumped the dispense and dwell times way up. It was the slowest stage in the process, but it worked out o

The coating is pliable and is air cured for 24 hours. The potting compound goes into the top assemnbly in 3 diferent stages. The circuit boards are coated using urethane type conformal coating. The unit is also placed into an ESS chamber -40 to +

T&R Verification

Electronics Forum | Fri Oct 03 11:26:31 EDT 2003 | radney

We have been through several stages of this journey. We had no verification initially, migrated to two person verification (with reel initialing) and finally to electronic verification. Each of these steps has given us a dramatic improvement in our
