14,000 uf now that's a BAC!!! Your thinking is correct. Connecting capacitors together works just opposite to connecting resistors together. * Capacitors in parallel add like resistors in series [Ct = C1 + C2 + ... Cn]. * Capacitors in series add l

Short Circuit Ceramic Chip Caps

Electronics Forum | Mon Aug 25 12:04:42 EDT 2003 | John Inglis

We are currently seeing short circuits on both 100nF and 1uF capacitors from TDK circa 2001. There are known design limitations to the PCB resulting in mechanical stress, howevre this PCB has been built for several years and this is a new phenomenon.

Phil, you are incorrect on the value! You are right the 5 does signify the number of 0s to be 5, So when you move the decimal point 6 places to convert into uFarads from picoFarads you end up with .1, A 1uF cap has a 6 Russ

Found Ceramic Chip Caps to be Short Circuit

Electronics Forum | Thu Aug 24 12:45:16 EDT 2006 | CKH

Hi Folk, recently, i have found about 5% of the PCBA failed because of the faulty 10uF Cermanic Chip - Short Circuit. Will this Ceramic Chip cause during the SMT Process (e.g Temperature), Functional Testing or from it Original incoming Capacitor (M

1. Resistor is used to provide ground return for diodes. Diodes have a capacitance and with them floating a charge can build up. 2. They each perform different functions. The 100N is used for HF filtering. The 1uf is used for LF filtering and

Capacitor marking

Electronics Forum | Thu Sep 06 15:41:23 EDT 2012 | rway

This appears to be a non-standard marking. Where did you find this? What is is out of? The 84 may be related to the cap value. Have you tried to measure it? I'm not sure about the "EG" part of it. This marking may be mfg specific, but the stand

paper vs emboss (& zig zag placement)

Electronics Forum | Tue Oct 02 10:30:10 EDT 2012 | eniac

Difference in pick height from paper and embossed reel (typically) is 0.2 mm. Try to change your pick height and place height (different type of capacitors have a different height: for 100 nF 0603 and for 4.7 uF 0603 it's a big difference!). Can you
