Crystalline flux if it is really clear should not be a problem. We were using Amtech paste before and we have the same results. Sometimes we mistakenly see it as a dry joint because of the reflections from the lighting of our Metcal inspection system

Hi, This is a widely discussed subject and since you have asked a brief explanation, I assume, you are a business man or a top executive in the company venturing in to COB. I waited to see if someone replies to you. May be it is a very old subject

This defect is there after reflow. My first thought was that the boards had some sort of contamination, too. This is a new PCB manufacturer for this board (they have been making other boards for us). But... why only on the connectors -- why only o

It is an interesting topic. This will tell you if they are cleaning the boards well(Di). We typically warn our fab houses if we see them head up or over 4 micrograms per square inch. On occasion we have seen upwards of 20, and "rejected" I think

WE ARE EXPERENCING OPEN 8 MILL VIAS UNDER THE BGA'S, THEY ARE OPENING AFTER THE ASSEMBLY PROCESS, THEY ARE FROM MULTIPLE PCB VENDORS, THEY PASS AT THE PCB SUPPLIERS TESTING, AND WE HAVE FOUND THAT THEY HAVE HAD 2 MAJOR CAUSES 1. BUBBLE INTRAPMENT, 2.

I've seen this type of problem before. You need to get on your bare board vendors. It's a process problem for them. When you add the heat in reflow or wave solder the vias open. I'd get the vendor involved and reject the bare boards. There is still a
