have done it in the past, used silicon as it will flex,, however its not the most robust material! tends to peel/flake off.

Solder Mask problem

Electronics Forum | Thu Jun 01 10:48:21 EDT 2000 | Jeremy

I am having a problem with the green solder mask flaking off exposing bare copper. The mask was defective from the board manufacturer. My problem is the boards are already assembled and we are just finding the problem. Is there a standard that cover

Glen, Although the previous answers probably fit the problem you are having, we recently found that during pin insertion on an Autosplice machine, the gold was flaking from the pins and lodging between the legs of surface mount components. It would

The lead Wade is speaking about is not (technically) in solution. It is in suspension (or someting like that). The lead is solder balls, flakes, and the like that is offal from his soldering process. He needs to filter this material from the waste

Wave Solder Machine Maintenance

Unless your wave is very, very, very old - you are having your leg pulled. Or someone in your maintenance dept. is a little out of it. Most pre-heaters are already coated to prevent rust. Maybe the coating has flaked away, if so, I'd suggest using

some coatings are more forgiving to surface contaminations than others. best way to go about is select some coatings with the properties you need and then trial the boards to see any coating defects (like dewetting, pinholes, flaking etc) wiping wit

Salt spray hours

5000 hours, yeow!!! Salt spray testing "periods range from a few hours (e.g. 8 or 24 hours of phosphated steel) to more than a month (e.g. 720 hours of zinc-nickel coatings, 1000 hours of certain zinc flake coatings)." Look here: http://www.ancatt.c

Conformal coating rework jumpers

Electronics Forum | Sat Oct 08 11:57:58 EDT 2016 | davef

A friend in the contract coating business said: "... ask why the wire is [teflon] coated in the first place, as only the solder joints should be coated in this situation as the flexing/bending of the wires will cause the coating to crack and flake of

Jeremy: Standards: A-600 talks about percentage of solder mask loss allowed, according to the location (eg, laminate, bare copper, gold or nickel, melting metals) and equipment class. A-610 talks to "Solder Resist Coating - Voids & Blisters" by

Re: Squeegee blades

Electronics Forum | Mon Nov 29 16:17:43 EST 1999 | Curtis T.

Are these blades coated with something like PTFE (teflon)? If so does the coating flake off over time. Incidently I just got a pice quote and they are 4.5X that of our standard MPM nickel plated spring steel, so I wanted to make sure they would last
