Granite Surface and ESD

Electronics Forum | Thu Mar 31 23:14:18 EST 2005 | Steve

Russ if your asking me if covering the surface of the granite defeats the purpose then I'm lost. An ionizer is a very good suggestion but they are not inexpensive. If the table is grounded and the metal bars are on a grounded mat, laminate etc. then

RoHS and stencils

Electronics Forum | Fri Mar 03 13:51:17 EST 2006 | Chunks

We've looked at our stencil under magnification after hand cleaning. There is some paste left behind. Machine washing removes all of the paste. Your best bet is to clean like normal, then look at the aps under magnification. Adjust accordingly (a

Stencil cleanliness and inspection

We are a high-mix/low-volume operation and end up cleaning 40 - 50 stencils per day. Does anybody know of an automated inspection system or "scanner" that can check a stencil for cleanliness?

Stencil cleanliness and inspection

Thanks Phil. However, my objective is to identify stencils that are not 100% clean prior to sending to inventory. I want to catch it before the solder paste has a chance to dry and harden in the apertures. Kerry

Here are some answers to my questions after a good research. I also added more definitions that could help understand this esoteric language used in assembly, specially surrounding fluxes and their use. In blue italics are comments and extracts from

Granite Surface and ESD

Granite is a porous material and if anyone decided to clean this material you probably have an insulative barrier thus you would never have static dissipation. Spend $45.00 and put a mat over the granite or spend $80.00 and get an esd laminate materi

Lead Free and ICT

I agree! I am using a SAC305 no clean from Alpha. I have noticed that even hand probing with volt meter leads requires me to press very hard on the pads to bust through the flux residue.

Grant, Why don't you try a water-base flux which is No-clean, VOC-free also? I have tried the 270WR flux from AIM with good results even on lead-free process. My $0.02, George

So, yer lookin' to detect a ~25um glob on the wall of the aperture on yer stencil, eh? Why not wash your stencils before you put them away? That's what we do. Give 'em a quick looksee, then rack 'em, if they're clean. Give 'em anudda looksee befo
