In general, it is safer to use a single alloy with a known composition and performance characteristics. If you need to change the alloy used in your selective soldering machine bath, it is advisable to consult with the manufacturer or a soldering exp

Yes, we can't use pure Pb PROCESS. And as I say we will not use it anyway, as we have lead-free BGA's, LGAs, component with Solder Charged Terminations... It's became almost normal practice to solder it with leaded solder pastes. In this case peak re

"For the lead free soldering of electronic assemblies, the inclusion of silver in the alloy results in better wetting compared to non-silver containing alloys and also allows for a broader process window. Silver also improves joint reliab

Want to update this question a little, I know it appears few years ago, but I hope there is some updates... We have to assembly few samples of motherboards with this kind of finish (customer mistake during pcb order). Normally we can use leaded sold

Soon we will be manufacturing board assemblies on our SMT lines that will utilize both lead and lead free water soluable solder pastes. I have read some discussion about change-over from lead to lead-free jobs related to machine cleanliness, etc. H

Hi. Anyone in this forum experienced the lead-free solder paste SAC305 and SAC405? What are the differences to expect for solder paste with SAC305 and SAC405? What is the effect of silver (Ag) alloy in solder paste? It was really appreciated if could

With Pb-Free HASL you can't use Pb process for sure as the melting point of tin is so much higher than the lead paste process. SAC305 is the most popular compound, unless your assembly requires something else for a specific reason.

Thank's for the information Bob. I have another question, at the moment my peak reflow is at 218c, this means I am above the 210c a lot of companies run off. If I am building boards using SN63/37 solder paste with lead on my process, and using lead f

Not following the lead paste process window has a whole set of risks for joints quality and reliability.
