If spacing is not to small you could use a temporary peelable mask used in wave soldering. Or have your PCB manufacturer screenprint a peelable mask on for you. These suggestions are only if the mask needs to be removed, If not permanent solder mask

Does anybody know how to remove solder mask from pads that were masked over.

I use 3M 218 fine line masking tape for masking SR conformal coating.

We've used masking tape and peelable (pink) mask to mask our boards before conformal coating for a long, long time. This is a huge time sink, and increases our lead times (particularly because of the cure time for the pink mask). What are other com

Cuppla questions for ya ... Where are the shorts [above the mask or between the mask and the laminate]? On the board, what material is between the copper traces and the mask? What type of solder mask(s) used by your suppliers? What are they using

One of the DFM suggestions I've seen is to remove the solder mask web, i.e. the mask between pads on 20-mil QFP devices. The rational is that if the mask is thicker than the pad the mask can prevent the stencil from making intimate contact with the

Go for it!!! You were unspecific, but adding mask to a completed board could cause: * Increased paste thickness, if you have double thickness of solder mask. * Wrinkled and lifted solder mask under the component, if the solderability protection of

I have a board with the above problem from our PCB supplier. After they applied the solder mask and run the PCB's to HASL process, the solder mask bubbled on one side of the PCB making the solder mask thickness higher and PCB looking awkward. They s

Glen: As I mention in an earlier response in this thread, I think someone at Steve's plant (or may be in his packaging spec for the fabs) is doing something to leave a residue, but I'm also thinking solder mask ... ENIG can be applied before or aft
