Hi D0m0 Can you standardize on your temps and just adjust conveyor speeds for various sizes of the boards? Another trick is to parallel t-couple plug off the actual t-couples of the oven and mount the plug in an easy access point of the oven. The

It always surprises me how many variations there are for profiling and controlling your ovens, and the thing is most of them are fairly valid. Here's yet another option: Your board profile needs to be specific, 2 boards can look identical but have ve

We are currently using Oven Rider (ECD) to "verify" just the conduct of the peak temperature; we define which product is the higher runner for this line and then with the settings for this product (already profiled with thermal couples attached to th

Sounds like a true IR guy to me!!! Your profile should reflow solder on the board properly to produce a reliable product for your customer. If that requires more than one proifile, so be it!!!. That being said, we went from hundreds of IR profiles

Let me be more specific about my dilema. We have used a vapor phase reflow process for many years. We just bought a Heller 1800 this year (2000). We may very well be able to run all 600 very different board types we build in 10 recipies on the Hel

Reflow profiles are based on the product and materials you are soldering. You need profiling software and a data logger.

We just bought a new Heller 1800 EXL reflow oven for reflowing SMT boards. We us a low temp RMA solder paste with 2% silver. Everything we build is to IPC Class 3 specifications. We have approximately 600 different types of circuit boards we build

Dr. Lee, For Pb-free solders, will the reflow profile be similar to that of Sn/Pb, with an flux activation plateau before going to peak reflow, or will the profile be more linear in nature? Are there advantages/disadvantages to either profile for P

Like robdg3 said, just check your paste spec and define your reflow profile accordingly. There should not be any major difference in reflow profile due to PCB finish.
