Our Philips Orion shows a L049 motor error immediately after we turn it on. Note that the Y axis servomotor was very hot prior to the last shutdown. Is this a problem with the motor or one of the boards?

You can try to null the axis, it's working sometime Also, lower the acceleration to 2000 instead of 4000 and the max velocity to 350 instead of 508. You can also try to swicht the Y1 driver with Y2 driver Do you have the AMC disks to troubleshoot ?

Try cleaning the linear encoder reader. I've had dust build up on two of my machines resulting in failure to calibrate. Blowing out the reader heads with gentle compressed air resolved it.

Have you reviewed the wiring diagrams and checked voltages at the input card? Maybe you have a damaged IO card or broken cable.

On the HP Servo panel there are LED's that indicate state of limit switches - so you can see if the problem is in the switch or somewhere else. Did you check it?

Yes, the left to right movement. The belt looks tight. I will check for loose steps, thanks for the tip. I can't find a mod code for overall speed setting. Do you remember the number?

You could also try swapping the motion cards. X and Y are swappable I believe. And see if the problem goes to the X. I have had to do that in the past for troubleshooting. It has been awhile since I have touched a IVC, but I loved those machines.
