Every critter out there with large incisors adapted for gnawing and nibbling has a different theory of solder ball formation. [My theory: Its punishment for using NC fluxes. Stand and deliver. My solder balls end-up in the gross filter connected

You oven guys are SOOOO sensitive! I must agree though, the oven profile made nowhere near the difference that the Homeplate did, in our place.

Steven, Dave is right, wash them away. Since it is RMA paste, you may need to have a saponifier to go for Semi-aqueous washing. Or you may want to contact your supplier for a cleaner to wash it away with some agitation ( ultrasonic). Mag.

The manufacturer says that since this solder paste has synthetic flux (not natural rosin) it is sensible to humidity. Worked with reflow profiles, but no remarkable improvements. We are changing solder paste every 2 hours.

The manufacturer confirmed that it is humidity - the solder paste is too sensible to humidity. Now I tried Koki solder paste with good result. But, it does leave flux residue in good quantity. Does anyone have experience with Koki solder paste?

Thats it. 6 mils works great with a 10% reduction. We had also had some issues with our p&p placing the parts to hard and smashing out paste causing a bead to form in the middle of our 0805 packages.

Hello everyone, thanks for the feedback. Now I am sure it is too much solder paste. It seems that the pads are a little bit bigger than they should be, so I will probably need an aperture reduction more than 10%.

The answer is usually either too much paste or paste being deposited where it doesn't belong. In some instances the two are related. You don't say what kind of parts you're having problems with and that matters too. I agree with the previous poste
