Ben, Thanks for the input on the apertures and thickness. The side two problem, is not reflow. We have no trouble with reflow. The problem is that our product is high precision crystal oscillators. In order to get the precision needed, we have t

Hi, What contributes to the above? I've got some BGA solder joints with a crystal like flux attached to it like a mini solder ball but do not have a perfect round shape. I had my aqueous cleaner's DI water sent for analysis and everything looks okay

Hello, If I do understand it correct, the dust in your oven are salt-crystals, comming from No-clean fluxes. We had them also once, it was a problem with one fan in the oven, I think you should check your fans inside the oven. Our extraction was OK,

Sean, We suggest having the PCB tested for ionic cleanliness. It is conceivable that though the visible flux residue has been cleaned, there is still invisible, yet ionically significant residue in the area of the board/part. We also suggest ensur

I just can not get over the size of these crystals. What is the chronology of and the span of the thermal cycles this BGA has seen.[Just guess at the fabrication cycles, if it's difficult to determine]

Armin: Are you washing the brds after wave? If so there are water soluble spacers out there that work great and are removed through the washing process!

You said that you were sole sourced. Are you in need of a second source for crystals or oscillators? My company manufactures these components. send me an e-mail if you are interested.
