Here are links to the web sites for three instruments specifcally designed to monitor wave solder process. Some have SPC logging capabilities: http://www.ecd.com/emfg/instruments/waverider/ http://www.swpc.co.il/wso.htm http://www.solderstar.com/w

Sorry to nitpick, but counting and responding to the number of defects isn't process control. It's done all the time, but it doesn't really fit the definition and that's what I think DB is trying to investigate.

Thanks to all for the input. It has helped change our standard SPC program around. (To davef: Dad handled most of it, but Vegas got the rest)

We are looking to have SMD components taped and reeled in Brazil. Are their any suppliers in Brazil? cl@latrex.com.br

Tg is just a way to say when the board goes limp... or a quick way to rank laminates... who cares. For lead free you want to look at Td, Decomposition Temperatures. ( Temp at which the material weight changes by 5% )

=330*C is good advice. Search the fine SMTnet Archives for earlier discussions on Td, like http://www.smtnet.com/forums/Index.cfm?CFApp=1&Message_ID=32430

Air Academy Associates has a nice SPC package that has the PFMEA calculations built in to it. It also does Cp/Cpk/regression analysis, MSA, et al.You can combine it with a reaally user friendly DOE software for about $250. Both use Excel. Brian
