PQFP with pitch of 0.4 mm

Electronics Forum | Tue Jan 30 15:30:17 EST 2001 | dason_c

Please check what is the actual pitch size. I found some of the designer use 15.7 mil pitch and no accumulate ie 15.7, 15.7 and 15.8...... Also, I recommended the pad width should be 10 - 11 mil for 0.4mm pitch. You can open the 10 - 10.5 mil aper

Dave, Thanks for the info! Yes, I have read the IBM document and realized that I was missinformed about the paste volume. I need 5000 to 5600 cubic mils of paste. Running the numbers I get a 32 mil aperture with a 7 mil step (the rest of the board

I would suggest scoring if the profile allows, leaving residual material of circa 40 - 50 mil - That is what I do on a 125mil thick PCB width of the pis is approx 200 mil Mouse bites on a board as thick as 135 mil will mean its extremly difficult to

On 0402s we use 20x25 mil pads with a 15 mil gap between the pads on the pcb with ENIG finish, 5 mil stencil with a 1:1 aperture (20x25 mil) and SAC305 lead free solder paste. We very rarely see any tombstoning on 0402s using this setup.

| Can anyone in this world produce such small PCB/PWB trace widths? Lots of theory so far, but have not found anyone yet who can do it in practice. | Daniel: 2 mil lines with 3 mil spaces are pretty technical. Good luck. Dave F
