Hi all, I have an Electrovert Econopak Plus wave solder machine. Lately the solder pot temp has been fluctuating +/-10 degrees c. I have replaced the thermocouple as I suspected it to be faulty but the problem still exists. I am confident that the

Bolos, Why you have to purchase the Titanium solder pot for your lead-free? I have the MDS-200 Unit Design Drag solder and I just empty the solder SN63PB37 in the solder pot, clean it very well and buy lead-free solder bar to fill up the pot. David

SN100C is designed not to corrode your pot, and can be used on standard solderpots (after a proper clean out), whereas SACX is still corrosive and if the coating is compromised then could cause problems. Get it in writing from the supplier that the

No, raising the solder pot temperature to 800*F will not affect affect your solder alloy. We expect that you had a fairly high level of intermetallic compound generation, but most of that would be included in the fairly high dross generation that ha

The gold needs to go into the solder so the solder can form a connection between the the component and the nickel under the gold. The gold will disperse into the solder. Most of it will remain in your solder pot after board processing. Assess the c

Any suggestions/experience in repairing an old electrovert stainless wave solder pot? We have been running SN100C in this pot for a few years, and it developed a small leak along the weld in one corner. I am wondering of the best repair methods, an

This is probably a weird question. I have taken the chip wave out of my solder pot and was wondering if it is possible to put something in its place to take up the void and at the same time reduce the volume of solder? I noticed it takes longer to he

Almost sounds like a part fell in the pot, exploded and burned into powder. We had a part get into our pot somehow and produced powder dross + other contaminates (no solder balls, though). The ring around the pot was very difficult to remove but wa

We've run for about 2 years with SN100C on a Stainless pot, and all looking OK at the moment - we have just drained the pot and swapped to a similar solder (customer request)so we had a good look as we were interested to see what was happening. To be

I don't know about potted PCBs, you'd have to talk to the recycle. My guess is it doesn't matter, worse case they just pay you a little less per weight so you'd just keep the potted PCBs separate from the rest of the waste.
