Reflow Profiling - Cooling Rate?

Electronics Forum | Fri Jan 31 07:45:48 EST 2020 | dontfeedphils

Who's controlling the cooling rate when profiling? If so, what's the max cooling rate you're trying to hold?

PCBA was swollen after SMD

Forgot to ask earlier - what is the TG rating for your laminate? If not selected already, use a high TG rating like TG155 or TG170 laminates for the ROHS temps. Never saw swollen PCBAs with such rated PCBs to date.

Reflow Profiling - Cooling Rate?

Electronics Forum | Thu Apr 23 08:39:58 EDT 2020 | nhusa

This is the first time I heard that the heating and cooling rates should be identical so I downloaded a copy of the paper to see what it said. There is one short paragraph claiming that the rates should be equal but no references or data. This doesn'

Reflow Profiling - Cooling Rate?

A few lifetimes ago I went to a seminar on reflow profiles. The speaker emphasized more than once that the cool down rate is important. Someone asked him about controlling the cool down rate and he acknowledged that you can't. And IIRC it was an ove

Reflow Profiling - Cooling Rate?

Hello Phil, As the other respondents have mentioned, the cooling rate is not easily controlled and varies based on the oven and board design, as well as the settings of the last few zones and cooling zones. In general, the board is going to cool in

BGA solder failure rate

Electronics Forum | Thu Oct 28 13:36:14 EDT 1999 | Bart Smith

I am a design engineer and have a circuit board design with a 292 pin BGA on it. The board manufacturer is experiencing a failure rate of about 2.8% on the BGA device due to soldering problems. This is my first experience with BGA. How does the 2.

Argon Leaking Rate

Electronics Forum | Wed Apr 15 09:59:56 EDT 1998 | Miangui Xue

I have a hermetic package with 1 atm of Helium (5% vol.) and Argon (95%) inside. We have detected the helium leaks at 5*e-8 ccatm/sec. My question is what is the leaking rate of argon. Can anybody provide any insight or information to calculate the r

Cooling rate after reflow soldering

Electronics Forum | Fri Feb 13 03:26:07 EST 1998 | Brian S. Bentzen

Hi , The 4th stage in reflow soldering, the cool-down, I find is often over looked. A rapid cooling rate should give finer lead and tin structure with more bindings and thereby result in stronger solder joints. Can anybody give me some information

class 3 labor rate

Electronics Forum | Wed Aug 20 10:31:41 EDT 2003 | billdampier

We have some new customers that are requiring class 3 IPC standards, and my question is, how would that translate into a labor rate increase as compared to class 2 rates? I'm assuming the labor quote would increase by at least 15-20%, if not more. An

AC working volatge of a Capacitor

Electronics Forum | Thu Jun 09 17:12:43 EDT 2005 | thaqalain

Capacitor working voltage One very important rating of capacitors is "working voltage". This is the maximum voltage at which the capacitor operates without leaking excessively or arcing through. This working voltage is expressed in terms of DC but th
