Use a low wattage resistor. It doesnt take much to dissipate static electricity, but in a emergency hopefully the resistor could act like a fuse, burn up and go open before anyone gets zapped too bad.

Are the markings on resistors the actual value? Do AOI machines look for these markings or do they just look to see if a component is present and placed well? Can anyone attest to the solderability of upside down resistors? Can anyone argue that u

unmarked chip resistors

Is the industry really moving toward unmarked chip resistors? I've been seeing a lot of unmarked 0603 resistors lately, and when I check the data sheets, all their photos are of marked parts, and they don't say anything about it.

Our AOI machines have actually caught wrong resistors before. A reel gets swapped, a vendor sends a wrong part, things happen. To think that we can't rely on resistor markings anymore, that just sucks.

Ashok: Our procedure allows connecting a resistor of less than 1 Mohm between the mat and ground, if safety codes and/or other authorities require inclusion of a series resistor (to eliminate the safety hazard of touching a high voltage circuit with

You seem to pretty far from shore to begin thinking about boats and floatation devices. Most laser trimmers are used by: * Semiconductor fabricators * Resistive component fabricators * Hybrid circuit assemblers Component fabricators and hybrid [

Question on Grounding Resistor

Electronics Forum | Tue May 23 16:56:10 EDT 2000 | Ashok Dhawan

For grounding Table Mats/ Floor Mats and workstations, does grounding resistor need special characterstics e.g Wattage, material of construction, etc. We intend to use 1M Ohms resistor. EIA-625 does refer to EOS/ESD-S6.1 standard ( paragraph 7) fo

WAVE SOLDERING 0603 CHIP RESISTOR ARRAYS

Electronics Forum | Mon Apr 10 11:56:35 EDT 2000 | Robert Hutton-Squire

Suggestions please... I have to place a number of 1206 chip resistor arrays on the bottom side of my PCB for wave soldering. The device consists of 4 x 0603 resistors in a 1206 package. The device is available with either concave or convex terminati

I have an idea of trimming the resistors on a teflon PCB (FR4) after mounting and soldering. Can I use a laser to cut on a smt mounted resistor while the PCB is in functional test? The goal is to balance the resistances for a telecom application. Ha

Silver Sulphide Contamination of Resistors

Electronics Forum | Wed Feb 21 11:25:04 EST 2001 | Dave E

We have had a problem with some resistors on some conformally-coated boards which, after a few months in the field, started going bad -- a real worst-case situation. The resistors would increase in value dramatically and sometimes develop diode-like
