The only easy solution is not to handle the boards. Purchase true double sided reflow lines. Buy automated magazine loading conveyors. Check machine board supposrts. Are you sure it's from handling? We found it was 50/50 between board handling

Has anyone seen or put together a good collection of proper handling procedures for components and PCB's? I realize a lot of it is no-brainer stuff, but I need some depth for a training class we are putting together. This would include ESD, Moisture

Yes, it makes sense that company peculiar issues should not be included in a general training program, but say the issue delt with: * Course indicating [through correct responses to testing] that component leads should not be handled because it could

We only do rework with SMT components or a small amount of SMT work. We are having a hard time keeping the components safe throughout the handling process of removing one or two components, and issuing them to an operator for processing or inspectio

Moisture should not be an issue with ceramics, but mechanical or thermal stress definitely is. Has there been rework on this capacitors? So check for handling /temperature of your soldering irons (better:use hot air). Check oven temperature/profile

In the purest sense of ESD control, we would have to say yes, use ESD tape to cover the gold fingers. The gold fingers are connected directly to input/output controls for the card, and, as we all know, when handling boards, we're supposed to avoid c

@ Sr.Tech, Any voiding means that the part of the package under the void is not forming a solid thermal interface with the PCB, therefore it's heatsinking capability is reduced. With the drive for smaller packages with higher power handling capabil

What type of component you are handling. Connector or IC.
