Epoxy for holding large inductors

Electronics Forum | Wed Jan 14 16:52:40 EST 2009 | vleasher

We currently use Epibond 7275 and it cures way too quickly to allow the component to settle down on the board. Have you used the Loctite 3609 in the application i'm speaking of with success?

We view both Epibond 7275 and Loctite 3609 to be very similar. They're competing chip bonders.

Samsung CP45FV Neo Programming

Hello. Does anyone know how to add a different package to the Part Group on the Samsung CP45FV neo software? See picture. For example if we wanted a heading for Inductors, how do we add that? Thanks

The 237*C is under the inductor with aTAL of 48s. I worked on the profiles this morning an got the max temp up a few degrees and the TAL to 62s. I will check the body temp of the Elec caps. The rest of the board has a max temp of 247. Thanks Gm

Gary, We are missing something here. I see no evidence of reflow at all. If you have a thermo couple under the inductor, 237 deg with a TAL of 48 seconds should work all day long.(even though it may be on lower end of process window) SAC melts at 21

I drilled a small hole from the other side in order to get my thermocouple under the inductor pad. I did not have anything on hand to fill the hole, so I covered with kapton tape the best I could. I suspect that is why it looks like it should work.

chip components (i.e. inductor, capacitor & resistor) more than 2 years from packaging can still be used??

Electronics Forum | Tue Jun 03 16:18:54 EDT 2014 | patel_daxa29

I have not seen expiration date on parts so far. I have seen people uses 10 year old parts too as long as it solders good.

Need to indentify a component

It's hard to say. My guess is it's a cap or inductor. Have you tried measuring it? Is it me, or does this part appear to have a transparent package? It could be the flux I'm seeing.

How passive components work

Electronics Forum | Thu Dec 15 07:38:33 EST 2016 | emeto

Passive components are the one's that don't gain power on the output. The one's that do are called active components. Diodes, resistors, caps and inductors are examples of passive. Transistor is active component.

potting the board with epoxy will make it non repairable the same insulation effect you would achieve if you just put around the inductors some styrofoam or other sound insulator without messing with epoxy
