Process Tin lead vs lead free components

Electronics Forum | Wed Sep 14 09:19:30 EDT 2011 | swag

Target those specific parts/leads with a thermal-couple and a mole and try to get the peak reflow temps up to 225 C. It's not a cure but it will improve the apperance of the solder joints.

lead free platings and tin lead

Electronics Forum | Tue Aug 31 21:45:49 EDT 2004 | KEN

I have experienced this directly in SMT and wave solder. Fillet lift (can) be a direct indicator to lead enrichment (but its not the exclusive symptom). Lead enrichment in smt joints reduces the interfacial strength shortening the time to creep f

Now see Dave, now I have some good info on why it is "bad", This must be the lead enrichment I have heard about but never got any substantiated data or explanantion. I wonder how much weaker or less reliable these are. Is there any data that you k

The wording in your second post re: lead vs. lead free behavior seems to contradict your first post, but I'll assume you mean that the lead free boards fail sooner during vib. testing. My question is, if this is the case, are the parts that are fai

What is the difference of formulation No-Clean Sn63 with No-Clean lead free paste? Is there techniocal data in detail for performance property of No-Clean lead free paste (for example, viscosity, solderability, tack, print life, reflow profile)? Is

JBC is offering "Lead free" tips now. They have this on the web site: "JBC recently released a new series of tips featuring a thicker iron bath that we find more resistent to aggressive additives and flux as found in lead free alloy." We have not d

Through hole reliablility lead free

Electronics Forum | Thu Oct 12 09:22:12 EDT 2006 | charless

Hi We are experiencing different failure modes between leaded and lead free through hole assemblies. The boards are PTH. In the case of lead free boards we are seeing fracturing of the component legs much earlier than we do with leaded assemblies. N

PCB's for lead free testing

Electronics Forum | Fri Jan 14 08:42:47 EST 2005 | Jim Zanolli

We are performing testing for lead free connector finishes. We want to run solderability tests on a series of lead free connector plating options in a series lead free PCB's. I need some advice on the most popular lead free PCB finishes. I am aware

lead free 0603 wave soldering

Electronics Forum | Wed Dec 03 01:36:35 EST 2008 | lococost

Is anyone wave soldering 0603 leadfree succesfully? We have no problems soldering them leaded, but lead free we see a lot of random skips and some shorts. We use SAC. We have tried different fluxes, flux settings, playing around with preheat, sol

Every problem faced with (all) lead free alloys can be solved with 2 words add lead I'll keep it short don't want to sound like a broken record.
