How do you tell what percent a SMT resistor is?

Electronics Forum | Thu Oct 16 15:24:33 EDT 2003 | daanterstegge

An explanation that could possibly help (depending on the exact code on these parts) is on http://www.marsport.demon.co.uk/smd/res.htm. The author of this ends the page with a "Personally, I'd check with an ohm-meter!". Daan Terstegge http://www.smt

ATC Fail Criteria

Hi, I am testing some lead-free assemblies using ATC. it was suggested to me that if i do in-situ testing, then i should measure the starting resistance, and subsequent resistances values after n cycles, and when the resistance value increases by 1 o

marking standard for .1% resistors?

Electronics Forum | Mon Sep 18 16:32:32 EDT 2006 | slthomas

Sorry, Jerry, I was just too lazy to include the k, as in 10.00k ohms. I don't have a meter that will read out to 3 places, so something like 10.014 would read at the upper limit of 10.01. Same problem exists at the lower end, obviously.

software to produce assembly programs

Electronics Forum | Tue Nov 06 16:20:52 EST 2007 | jmelson

Mostly, you don't want to do that. Whoever designed the PCB should be able to produce a "pick and place report" or similar file that lists components by designator (R123) component value/type (100 Ohm 0805) and XY and rotation. If there's absolutel

no-clean flux vs. impedance

Electronics Forum | Mon Feb 18 15:47:42 EST 2008 | ck_the_flip

In theory, no clean flux residues are electrically benign...period. Here's a good test. Subject the board to some moisture/humidity, and have your circuit designer ohm-out any areas that may be affected by conductive material. Option B: Have a la

PCBA Burn-in / ageing equipment

Electronics Forum | Mon Dec 01 10:31:42 EST 2008 | wavemasterlarry

What kinds of equipment are you looking for? Alot of people arent explicit these days, guess it's the holidays. Had some rabel-rouser borrow my volt ohm meter and the next thing I know it's on the line being used as test equipment. Tried to give a

ESD....Limiting Resistor

Electronics Forum | Wed Jul 01 11:20:19 EDT 2009 | Geo

It would, but is it correct? This is what QA came back with. "Think of a chassis, connected to earth ground, sitting on top of a mat. In this situation, we are bypassing the meg-ohm resistor to ground." If the mat, the operator and the test equipmen

Topaz blow part off when picking up.???

Electronics Forum | Wed Jul 29 07:02:50 EDT 2009 | thanhnguyen

yes i did test it manually, and it working fine.At the plug in, that the only way to plug it. With my ohm meter,24 volt present when you turn it on. The wierd thing is it blowing during head going down, then will sucking up when it move up.Vacuum valv

100nF 0805 ceramic cap with 25 Ohm resistance? Why?

Electronics Forum | Tue Jun 22 00:20:21 EDT 2010 | leadthree

Pick & Place > Wave-solder > other parts > test > conformal coating Is there any production error that could make a ceramic cap conductive? PS: want to add one point: The caps don't seem to be cracked. We changed a few 100 and didn't notice any bro

Rinse water resistivity/conductivity levels

Electronics Forum | Tue May 22 11:38:04 EDT 2012 | naynayno

I am looking for IPC or other published standards that specify cleanliness levels for: 1) solder paste stencils 2) selective solder pallets When we cleaned PCB's we used a limit of 4 M-ohms. Now that we have transitioned to No-Clean, I am wonderi
