While not quite on the level of rocket science [or entering into the purchase equation], we use xray to incoming inspect tubes of components to check that all the components are oriented head to tail.

Perhaps order a test kit from Topline or a similar dummy component vendor to practice on. That way, you can ensure that you get correct placement all over the board, and in different orientations. N

Can you please give me a pointer on where to find the component package orientation standard in the IPC? I think we'll work up a spec sheet for the folks in purchasing and let them handle the vendor side of this problem. Thanks for your help! JC

I am surprised to hear that you can wave a socket with or without component in it. What is the orientation of the socket on the board, 0 or 45 degree? Are you sure, you can remove the PLCC out of the socket after soldering? Do you have the designers

Consider: * Printing: errors [ie, insufficient, excess, skipping, etc.] paste doesn�t roll in front of squeegee, paste adheres to squeegee at the end of stroke, paste does not release. * Component placement: orientation, wrong component, missing comp
