Does any body know if there are any legitimate health or safety reason's to vent solder fumes, at both reflow and hand soldering work stations? Personally I don't like to have the fumes in my face, but I don't know if it causes a health risk. Thanks

Yano, at lot this discussion is kinda school boy theory. Other issues are: * Soldering time * Corrosion [did we say that already?] * Safety [ie, personnel, plant, environment] * Cost of ownership

So, they want you to talk through a justification for mixing fluxes? That's GREAT, if you can get away with it!!! Tell us more about Safety Clean.

What the heck are you doing having scotch tape in the plant? Isn't there a concern for ESD safety? Ban the scotch tape, then they won't have something to block the apertures with.

Thanks for the response. What I am looking for is what personal protection or other safety precautions should be used when cleaning the machine of paste/dross/dust. Any experience with this?

We'd guess that you want the ESD ground at the same point as the building ground for personnel safety reasons. Injured employees and OSHA inspector should be enough to convice the old timers [in most plants].
