Hi, We need to solder a USB plug onto a PCB in our SMT machines, and this is the same type of plug you see on USB storage devices. It's a very flat connector with 4 SMT pins, however the hard part is the bottom of the connectors is the same level

Hi, We have a SMT production like, however we have very little experience with through hole assembly. We design everything to be completly SMT based, however connectors are the only part of our product that still requires through hole assembly. Cur

Sounds like you could have a problem caused by the gold. How thick is the plating? Are the connector leads gold too? I have seen gold cause dry looking brittle solder joints in the past.

I have a connector which has very weak joints. Solder fractures easily. On inspection the solder is very grainy and full of voids. Process is 63/37 no clean. Any thoughts? Phil

Hej back at ya Your connectors could be warping during reflow. Find out by putting a connector on a hot plate and increasing the temperature. If so, you might get away with a simple fix of rotating the board 90* on your reflow oven conveyor. If you

This one's got me stumped, so I thought I'd throw it out for discussion: I have a 20 pin SMT ribbon connector by Molex that I've been using for about a year without problem, but recently things aren't looking so good. The solder is pulled up off of
