We are running an RMA flux (Kester 1515). Changing the angle didn't help any so we're back at 6 degrees and placing an order for the lambda nozzle changeover. Are you currently running the debridging knife?

most machines have fixed angle of 6 deg. some are adjustable from 5 - 7 deg., but 6 is most popular.

I did not tried this before (never hada chance to do it) but I considered such option - maybe try using temporary wavesolder mask on such small components. Run both sides of PCB through SMT oven and then mask 0402 completely and go with wavesoldering

Your IPC-610 workmanship manual will have the answer for you (I don't have the latest at my fingertips). Depends on what class you are building too, 1, 2 or 3 and the application of this connector on the product- which you must determine.
