smt_guy: In removing passivation coats and handling oil, board fabs do light washes with: * Sulfuric acid * Alkaline * Water ... and then blow dry. They do not see "oil" like you seem to be talking about. Their "oil" is the assumption that someone

Stephen, We are now running with 99.999 N, New nozzles and our wave height has stabilized. I will look into the Apidic Acid to clean our nozzles. Thanks for the input. I am just amazed at the difference the nitrogen grade made to our process. Goin

Has anyone heard of a no clean paste that can be cleaned in straight DI water ?

Electronics Forum | Fri Jan 26 12:57:34 EST 2018 | aqueous

Sorry to disappoint. No-Clean fluxes are resin-based. They are not soluble in water. Water soluble fluxes are by nature Organic Acid and are soluble in water AND must be cleaned within a short period after reflow as they remain conductive and corrosi

Try adipic acid to clean your nozzles. It is a powder and can be awkward to work with as a result. But you might end up preferring it. Also look where the substance is not. There are two PTH joints without it. And that chip cap is closer to the PT

Thank you for your response! I think, the labels seem more elegant and offer the flexibility of being reversible if the labeling isn't satisfactory. However, the punch numbers themselves are also a viable solution, so thank you for that suggestion

| I have a layer of electroplated solder (10/90) that appeares to have some sort of contaminent on it. Water will not wet to the layer in some areas. I have tried using 10% HCl in DI as a cleaner as well as 7.5% Fluoboric acid in DI. Neither has t

If you put a 6v battery on a 12v solar panel, it will charge the battery. It will also overcharge the battery and may damage the plates if you leave it on too long. The 'float' voltage for a lead acid battery (6v) should not exceed 7.2 volts for exte

Donnie In response to your questions; 1. Flux is Multi-core X32-10M 2. Preheaters temperatures can range based on board density. the goal is to get the top side to 100C before wave. 3. Components can't be placed after wave solder, they are surface m

Point well taken John. Expanding on epoxies: Novolac is a multifunctional epoxy ... a phenolic resin. Most phenolic resins are made using phenol (P) and formaldehyde (F). They comprise the bulk of IC packaging and are divided into two classes:
