Perhaps a little hard to find but is there anyone who uses a vapor phase process to solder populated card with BGAs. I am interested in the success rate of such a process. It is obvious that the throughput is reduce vs a convection oven but still thi

I am profiling a BGA for the first time and I am seeing temperature flucuations on the ramp and cool down from the thermocouple I have placed through the pcb and under the component. I am using a 5 zone convection oven.Any suggestions on the ploblem

Yep i agree most likely misplacment or reflow, maybe check your air flow around the liquidous zones(if convection oven) probably too low.

Our present lab went "South." We need a lab that can do temperature/humidity conditioing, convection oven baking, C-Mode Scanning Acoustical Microscopic package inspection and "No-Pb" reflow simulation. We are evaluating a low temperature package dry

KIC offers newer models with more features and inputs for TCs, but their software is basically still the same. Solderstar is another new option that you might look into. I don't know much about them, but it's an option.

Datapaq It looks like they are now part of Fluke instruments. They cover a lot of industries but at least used to have suitable software for us. It has been a while since I used one so ymmv.

Sold a customer a Conceptronics HVA-70 Convection Reflow Oven recently. While performing the install I asked if compressed air was hooked up. Seems this customer ...who already had a HVA-70 convection reflow oven never used air or nitrogen with that

I agree with all of you. If it is a good forced convection oven, the bottom side of the PCB will get very close to reflow temp and will probably reach reflow temp. Plus your oven may fight your settings. The lower heater temp settings will never b

Grant, The board maybe the problem but how is your oven working? Is it a convection oven and how many zones (top and bottom)? What does your profile look like? If you are unsure and if you only have one oven, send your board to Soltec or Electrovert
