Already spoke with Novastar, and they only offer replacement parts for the preheating elements and fingers for this model, which was discontinued in 1997. Thanks though for your reply.

Elemental is by SEM/EDX. The brown coloration does resemble the 3 micron photo. Again, if I'm picking up copper (our Ag plating thickness requirements are 0.05 micron to 0.12 micron following IPC 4553), maybe we do have a porous silver plating.

We use precision tweezers to rework 0402 (OKI MFR-PTZ) not tried with 0201, but it may be a solution. The tweezers themselves have the heating element built in.
