Thanks Tim. Additional thoughts are: * We've talked here on SMTnet about hole fill previously. * That your ability to get hole fill is probably limited by mask in the hole makes us very uneasy, because hole could have varying levels of solder mask i

Hi, I am looking for the IPC criteria hole-to-lead ratio. Does anybody know a practical way to determine if some holes in my pcb's do not get enough solder in the wave solder machine because an inapropiate hole-to-lead ratio? Thanks in advance! Hi

Smartasp - What are your lead to hole ratios like? Dial down the flux and open up the holes, if you can. Keeping at least a 14-20 mil gap between min hole/max lead solves the hole fill problem. L

We had the same problem last year. You need verify these key points. 1- Holes are drill, NOT PUNCH. 2- Inspect 100 Boards at microscope, and verify that there is not rest of fibers in the holes. 3- Meassure the dimensions of the holes. a) virgi

I am looking for information comparing the reliability of smt boards vs thru hole boards. Also, information on when to use thru hole instead of smt if there is such a case. Background - We currently make temperature controller with a mix or smt and

Certain board designs require the unavoidable use of non-plated holes and slots. Presently, this requires a trip back to the drill house to open up the aforementioned holes, to remove the unwanted plating. In situations requiring non-plated holes and
