Charles: Interesting. Best laid plans, eh. Why don't you throw those pups into a glass of water and save some air freight? Or have you decided that shipping 'em is cheaper than buying the Altos? ;-) Ta Dave F

Attaching a Cost to Solder Defects

Electronics Forum | Wed Mar 14 17:26:03 EST 2001 | davef

Most $$-value stuff is dependant on the cost structure of the company. Why not do a small cost study to measure the amount of time your improvements save? Folk in accounting should be able to "rough price" the $$ benefit of your efforts.

Bottom side process question

Shadowing sounds about right to me also. Really dicey experiment to run if you are dropping expensive tantalums just to save a little coin in epoxy and processing time.

Re: Beat rate

Electronics Forum | Mon Feb 07 14:20:32 EST 2000 | Rob Cass

Takes 5 minutes?? Does that include the 3 - 5 seconds for loading and fiducial inspection. If so it 12 - 20 seconds you will save with a panel. Depending on the panel you may be able to use just a board break fixture. Reduce handling when you can.

There is no way like the X-Ray. I wouldn't trust my balls to just any old inspection. Is there really any other way? I don't think so!! Spending the extra money on a X-Ray machine will save you money down the road. Squirel

Mike, Three Words: DON'T DO IT!! Been there. It is a nightmare to work on boards without legends. Have the designers look elsewhere for the nickel they want to save. Wendy

You know, Moonie...you can make a relatively recent version of Microsuck Word save into an html format for your reading pleasure. Have you attempted this but to no avail? Squinting in TX Jennifer

I have slightly improved the message submission function. Should save about 10K when attempting to post message, and hopefully will help prevent double posting. Cliff
