For packages, you use packages names.There is only one SOIC8. The other 8-lead devices are there and it is your job to learn their names. For components descision should be made based you your whole(part number)system.

If it were other machines I would suggest the possibility of air kiss blowing the solder away, but mydata's have a release to make sure the air kiss never gets too high. Unless it is not pointing 90 degrees away from the machine like mydata recommend

Hi John, Depending on your board, it could make a difference. Copper finishes might leave that part of the pad exposed, which is a no-no in most places. Where as a HASL board prolly won't care if you pulled the print back. On the other end, over
