QFN's and LGA's

We just placed a 56 pin QFN, 1 per board, on 10 boards and had zero defects. A good paste job, proper placement and a correct oven profile are the keys. If these are set up correctly, on larger runs your defects won't be zero but they should be le

And pin outs of both. Once I saw a SOT-6 replaced with a miniSOT-6 (IIRC) The pin outs of the two parts were different. We did make an adaptor board and it wasn't too bad. We populated a panel of the adaptor boards, depanelized them and put them in t

Conveyors and bar code

Ive been lurking on the forum for a while so I will take a stab at this, mainly because there is no answer I take it that you have a variety of boards being produced at the same time and are in fixtures so the conveyors dont need to be adjusted, a

SMD Inspection and Touch-up

Electronics Forum | Fri Jul 23 10:47:31 EDT 1999 | Mark D. Milward

There is a practise within the industry of an Inspector inspecting a board, and that same Inspector performing touch-up. My opinion is that the Inspection and Touch-up operations should be separate functions whereby the Inspector is not performing th

Skewed and popped components

Even when you run a board several times, the machine may not make the same travel path every time. This in itself does not create a problem, but the vacuum on the nozzles could be different, dependent on the configuration of components on the heads.

Touch-up and Inspection Process

I think the 1st option would be the best. I have found that a touch up person WILL TOUCH UP SOMETHING, regardless of the electrical needs of the board. This leads to a lot of unnecessary rework of joints. I would hope QC is tracking the defects and t

Yes we do have a problem with this. We have by now investigate numerous lead/RoHS PCBA:s The RoHS boards are by far the most difficult one's to probe and test. Our people at the "test area" including Flying Probe and ICT they spend a lot of time to t

Conveyors and bar code

Hi, We have two complete SMT line and in this department we use conveyors for board manipulation. Concerning the wave area we are not full efficiency and I have to look for conveyors and bar code reader to make board manipulation an automatic proces
