Hello all, Our guys here still have some questions on the "optimized" profile which sees a more moderate ramp up straight to reflow temperatures versus the conventional profile which has a plateau at around 150 Celsius. If the optimized profile can

Does anyone know of a SMT reflow modeling simulation that I could use as a baseline for reflow profiling? I'm looking for a quick means of setting up oven profiles for various oven sizes based upon board density (grams/sq in) and conveyor speed.

Hi Dave F, I'd hold you to that "could" opinion of yours... and I'd be most willing to give the new VP ovens a try if such ovens become commerically acceptable to the pocket and match up to our current process control requirements (that we can achie

You can place them by hand and reflow them using a toaster oven if you use SIPAD ssd with adhesive flux. Yes, I said a toaster oven. It is being done!! Convection ovens work best. Give me a call and I will send you some sample boards to try it out

Vapour Phase is a "phased out" technology. Hot Air Convection is the commonly acceptable type of Reflow Oven. Some folks are getting good improvements for "IR + Hot Air Convection" (combined) Oven technology. Nitrogen Ovens have their own set of p

As far as the large thermal gradient I have on my thick and thermal heavy board, I've done quite a bit to minimize the gradient but not successful. it's like one pad is connected to a signal while the other pad is connected to ground, you can't bring

Is this a Convection Oven or IR? If convection, you can increase the air velocity in the zones if the oven has this ability. You should do as Dave has explained. If you must use pallets when reflowing your components, you need to profile in the same

We do have a convection oven and no one has messed with it. I am the only one who can change anything. I have it set at Medium right now on a conceptronics oven. Could this be too high? We have not had problems in the past with parts moving off o

What sort of components are missing? One possibility is moisture sensitive parts outgassing during reflow. The jets of steam propel the parts off the PCBA. Another thing to look at is your convection oven fan speeds. On some ovens this is adjustabl
