Our requirement is 2 hours after printing before the board needs to go through the oven. Course we're in the humid south where on those 95%+ RH days we do get solder balling.

We had a similar problem with components being out of spec, course our problem was that they were coming in out of spec, not being damaged by our process. Do you do any incoming inspection?

Is there documentation showing shelf life for plastic surface mount devices ? This will of course take into consideration that all the nessecary ESD precautions with N2 dry boxes are in use.

I went through EMPF's two week SMT boot camp a few years back. I got a lot of good info out of the course. They are in Philly right next to the airport so our travel expenses were reasonable.

You should be fine. A fifteen percent reduction of these pads will probably improve reliability, depending on spacing of course.
