A customer of mine is using Chemtronics (Circuit Works) CW3300 Overcoat pen. This is an acrylic conformal coating. It cures at Room temperature. They need something similar that can be UV cured in a pen form. Any suggestions?

Greg, Is there another way to check for those uncured plasticizers? How are they normally cured? If you could cure them yourself, I guess a difference would be noticable.

Dennis We know that cyanoacrylates are flammable and breathing hazard before curing, but are unaware that the cured adhesive had those properties also. Can you give us documentation of that fact?

SMT adhesive is hydroscopic. Some types absorb moisture faster than others. Moisture+SMT adhesive= pourous adhesive after cure. Excessive cure ramp rates can also contribute to porosity.

I would agree with the above. Epoxy is the way to go. You can have it formulated in different thicknesses and cure times, but you need to watch out for the exothermic heat from the curing.

So, you're curing glue on a thermal recipe intended for reflow even though your supplier recommends that you cure at 150C, because you want to use paste that isn't necessary.

If the mask is not cured and is coming off in the pot I don't see how it is protecting anything. If you want to mask something fast you need to use tape not liquid mask that requires cure. My $.02.

I have one brand new UV oven and 2 used ones. We used to cure Dymax conformal coating in this plant. We are selling those ovens.

seen it many times before when the resist is not cured at manufacturing. get PCB man to check with K type thermal couple that boards ARE in fact cured. this is normally 155C ON board temperture not oven setting Cheers Greg
