I experience dull solder at the reflow station runing some SMD LED. It is a reject for dull solder. Is there anything wrong in the setting of the oven temperature? Temerature too high or too low? Pls advise. Thank You Rdgs.....

Not sure how Juki centernests operate but baybe the board thickness is prgrammed wrong and the top board surface is too low or too high (bowed upward). This will cause bad placements. This is an easy mistake to make on HSP.

Is the part height set correctly. Too high and it gets ped. Too low and it's jammed into the board. Both can cause poor placement. Jerry

Have you checked to make sure the mix ratio is correct? My experience with epoxies is that if the mix ratio is off with too much hardener you will get a much higher exotherm than expected. Modulus is high too, pretty stiff material.

What kind of paste printing defects do you get from having the stencil tension: * Too high? * Too low?

I would think the two main issues would be: 1)humidity too low affecting static control issues. 2)humidity too high affecting moisture sensitive components. Otherwise I agree with Evtimov, whatever equipment/personnel can handle.

In my opinion, fault lies in printing or reflow. With printing - it's either too much solder paste or bad print, though I would assume that would be caught. With reflow, it could be that ramp up rate is too high.

Dean: I associate black plague as an immersion gold process problem (although I could easily be wrong): Everybody looks at the nickel, but the cause turns out to be the immersion gold is too aggressive. The immersion gold works by corroding the nic

It could be that you're starting with hyper corroded nickel, before you even begin work. With electroless nickel, everybody looks at the nickel, but the cause turns out to be the immersion gold is too aggressive [during fabrication]. Immersion gold

Marcus- I guess I'm too old school. When I was involved in manufacturing there wasn't any AOI and we got along fine for years without it, (like everyone else). But I can certainly see the benefits of it if you have highly complex boards that are jus
