Are you saying that immediately after the initial assembly process the boards work and then after these same boards sit for 15 days they don't? If that's the case I would suspect contamination maybe. what type of flux are you using and what is your

Sounds like you received some good advice. Most of our stencils are used once a day [at most], so more often than not they are air dried. If we goof-up and need to reuse a stencil during a day when we have limited drying capacity, we wipe the lowes

Regarding the non-adherence of this maintenance schedule......should we expect to see flux condensate on our solder joints?? Possibly leading to solder joint contamination, dry joints, solderability issues in production etc.??

Solder Paste Dry out

Electronics Forum | Thu Feb 28 14:27:07 EST 2008 | cyber_wolf

The flux dries out and the paste sticks in the stencil apertures. As the flux dries it also causes the solder to oxidize. Hahaha ! I remember adding flux to paste back in the day to loosen it up. Do not do it ! I have been told by reputable industry

We clean 40 - 50 stencils per day. I am having a problem with dry solder paste in some of the fine-pitch apertures. Manual inspection of every aperture is not feasible. I have checked out the StencilScan inspection system advertised on the SMTNet.

Removing Markings from Devices

You're not the only one. We just got done with a batch of ICs that had a high reject rate at placement. The machine was rejecting about 70% of the parts because it didn't recognize the part. The reason it didn't recognize the part was due to the f

If the soldering process isn't heating the whole package up to soldering temp then NO you don't need to keep them DRY (using a soldering iron to fit a QFP for example)....but if the soldering process is done on a rework station or in a manner where t
