Re: 16 mil pitch QFP solder bridge

We are working with a 16mil TSOP Land width=0.2mm(8mil) and use: 1.Type 4 particle size solder paste. 2.Laser cut electropolished stencil: Aperture width=0.19mm (we tried lower than this but had solder insufficiency). Thickness=0.005"(130 microns)

0201 Aperture design

Good Day Everyone, Can anyone offer any advice on 0201 aperture design? We are looking at an application that will require them. We would like to do some experimentation first. Also, assuming an OA flux, would we need a type 4 or 5 powder paste to p

have you tried a more agressive flux like water soluble to see if the problem goes away? Or can they be hand soldered with no problem? I am basically out of ideas other than a bad nickel or tin finish. The reflow profile didn't seem out of whack f

Fine Pitch Printing Issues

A guideline that I use agrees with MikeS: For 20mil pitch, apertures should be 9-10mil with a stencil thickness of 5-6mils to achieve an acceptable aspect ratio of 1.7. Just be sure you are using a mesh Type 3 or 4 solder paste. Otherwise, larger par

What foil thickness? Type 3 or 4 paste? Have you checked your area ratio(s)? You could overprint or drop your foil thickness by one mil to improve the ratio and paste transfer. As always you can search the fine SMTnet archives for more info.

Can anyone please explain me main uses of all 4 types of PCB's? I understood the difference here https://www.derf.com/printed-circuit-boards-overview-and-explanation/ but want to know more about them.

PCB for fine-pitch flip-chip

Hello All. First time poster. I need to design a PCB which will include a Bumped-die type chip with 6mil (152.4 um) pad pitch. I read somewhere that FR4 type board may not be a good choice for such small footprint. I have not had to deal with board

Flux: No-clean pastes tend to have a wider print process window in terms of print speed and pressure. More importantly, no-clean pastes are more tolerant to changes in temperature and humidity. They also exhibit longer stencil life than water-solub
