Does anyone know of an AOI system that can look at the solder joints of SMT chip devices (1206,0805 & 0603) and make a reliable presence/abscence call of the joint on a HASL PCB. A low false call rate (much less than 1%)is required. Any info. from

Experts, Is there any reference to the best wetting time when doing manual soldering in order to get the most reliable joints i.e to avoid thick intermetallic line formations. I heard people says, the shorter the better, but how short is short...sa

The total inductance of a chip capacitor is determined both by its length to width ratio and by the mutual inductance coupling between its electrodes. So, a 1210 chip size has a lower inductance than a 1206 chip. Check with your supplier for recomm

Charlie- You answered your own question...1206, 0201, 0603, 0805, 0402 are all the package dimensions. In addition Here is a generic link from practical components that list most package sizes, feeder size, tape type... http://www.practicalcomponen

Is any one else having a problem with parts that are Ni/Sn plated? The parts in question are a 1206 voltage suppressor form AVX. I am still using a stander 63/37 solder paste which is according to AVXs web sight compatible with this plating. The

We're not sure why you want to do this, but here's an interesting paper on part numbering: http://www.designchainassociates.com/index.html?http://www.designchainassociates.com/wp/pn.html Commenting on your scheme: * Not sure what the 'IPC' does f

Hi Colin, Are you using the 1206 package with 4 elements or one of the higher density smaller packages? With the first type you can get them in both Convex or Concave terminations, with most of the solderability problems associated with using the C

No problem. If you get no joy you're going to have to change the footprint to a 1206 or 1210. Murata have a range of high Q value inductors (50-60) & from memory Toko used to be pretty hot too. The terminations on the coilcraft part are listed a
