Lou, You should look at the ERSA/Modus AOI System! The Modus AOI uses a high resolution industrial scanner rather than a camera mounted to a gantry. It's way faster (12 seconds for whole board ) and can do everything that a camera can do and more

Lou, There's nothing like working with it yourself. We went through this exercise several months ago. We evaluated MIRTec, YESTech, and MVP. We were looking at benchtop units, so all 3 companies were willing to send in a "demo" unit for 3 weeks.

Is there anything to watch out for when purchasing older AOI systems other than OS/Software? Specifically I am looking at older Mirtec/Marantz benchtop style units. I figure it's a good way to get my feet wet before going to a full inline system.
