Thanks for your input, Alex. I appreciate it. I'd still like some input on diamond-shaped apertures if anyone has had experience with them.

Just wondering why you'd use a diamond shaped aperture? Seems like it'll just fill in the corners and be pretty much round anyway, so why not just start out that way and keep the volume you want?

Modify your stencil aperture shape...reduce the solder paste deposited on pad, will reduce the solder balls.Be sure your reflow profile are good before doing this.rising slope is very important. This is my opinion.thanks. Bryan

Try home-plated the stencil apertures, and make "V" shape home-plated outside edges of two pads instead of between two pads.

Nomorely the V-shape home-plated apertures look like two opening mouth facing each other. But this time just opposite way. And make 30% home-plated. Hope you can understand.

"better gasketing, less dog-earing" I suppose gasketing could contribute but my assumption is that it's a function of better shearing action between the blade edge and the aperture wall. You get a more consistent shape on the top of the paste deposi

Graham, good idea about reflowing first. I'll try this out. Our product is Ceramic, not PCB. I'll check the reflow as you say, though I have trialed various shapes and I am in contact with stencil manufacturer regarding aperture sizing. Thanks.

I'm looking for a shareware software that I could use for specifying stencils (we are stencil users not manufacturers). I would like to enter some preliminary spec in a software form, such as: the smallest pad geometry on pcb (possibly selected from

Hi, WE are making some test with this kind of component and aperture and here what we think. when you use a home plate aperture it's seem that the component is not lenght enought to have a good solder but maybe is our CAD guy that didn't make a
