Hi We are experiencing serious problem with ceramic capacitors. They are with low electrical resistence and the problem is intermittent. We found some of them with micro cracks but not all. What could be the causes for this problem? We are su

Are these caps on the bottom side or topside? Bottomside could be the glue dots are too big for the caps your putting down, the glue cures and then the solder is putting force on the edges of the cap causing cracks.. Other than that agree with oth

Please send us more information about how the glue dots can cause capacitor cracks. I didnt understand why it could happen. Thanks

The vast majority of issues I have seen are from depaneling with a PCB seperator. Try placing a row of tightly spaced unplated holes adjacent to the edge that the crack parts are being found out (assuming they are within .5" or so of the score line)

Can some one explain to me why the ceramic nozzles are cracking not on the tip but on the base??? also how long do the sleeves last, no informaton from siemens they just came in and changed from 'o'ring to bearing type?? Thanks Julie

WE CAN'T SEEM TO FIND A BOARD HOUSE THAT CAN SEPERATE OUR PCB ASSEMBLIES WITHOUT CRACKING COMPONENTS. BEEN THROUGH TWELVE OF THEM. IS IT OUR PROBLEM OR IS ANYBODY ELSE HAVING ANY TROUBLE WITH THIS.

Try heating a blank board on a hotplate to 183 deg C. with a board this thick, if the layer construction is poorly balanced, it may bend enough in the region of the ceramic capacitor for the soldered joints to crack it on cooling to ambient.

I just had a "how could I have forgotten" moment. By any chance are these double sided boards and the cracked components are on the fist side? If so support pin placement could be the problem. In case more info would be good.

We had a problem with cracked caps a few months ago, they were near the middle of the board, turns out it was caused when breaking them out of the panel, changed the panel layout and made them v-scored, problem solved. just an option, there's lots mo

I haven't heard of heating boards pre-depanel either. We have done extensive studies on cracking of ceramic caps close to V-scored edges and have decided to have our board vendors pre-rout any areas with caps close (
