DFM Guidelines

Electronics Forum | Wed Aug 12 00:01:56 EDT 1998 | Peter

I have a customer who is transitioning from 100% thru hole boards to designing boards with smt components. We gave them our basic DFM guidelines and they have laid out 2 boards following these guidelines. When I saw the result of their first pass, I

| | | I am looking for suppliers of through-hole DIP insertion. It's been a long while since I've looked for through-hole equipment and am not aware of who manufactures DIP insertion equipment. If you know of some suppliers, I would appreciate some

HMP Lead free solder?

Electronics Forum | Wed Aug 31 03:35:41 EDT 2005 | Slaine

I have a through hole product that is currently built with HMP solder(93.5Pb,5Sn,Ag1.5). We then dip it in 60/40 SnPb to give a solderable finish as HMP tends to oxidise. We need the HMP as our Customers solder through reflow ovens. Some customers w

CSP and BGA soldering difference.

"Guest" is right, actually. CSP's are essentially BGA's, but typically the pitch and ball diameters are much smaller and in some cases, the pads of the CSP's can not be screen printed. If that's the case, you'd have to have flux-dip capabilities on

Reworking BGA's

I would like some input on reworking BGA's and the best method. I have reworked BGA's since 1998 using both micro stencils and just flux dipping the parts. I have reworked SN/PB and lead-free (AIM NC258) BGA's for the last 8 yrs. with just flux. I ha

DIP insertion and Axial insertion old equipment poka yoke

Electronics Forum | Thu Jan 23 17:24:08 EST 2020 | rvines1

Due to couple of customers who still have some products that are completely through-hole, we use our Universal DIP and Axial equipment on a somewhat regular basis. Our machines are pretty old, but they work pretty well, and we don't do enough throug

Conformal Coat Dip Tank Supplier

I was a bit amused the way you "tanked" that dip John. I mean you skewered him without benefit of remoulade, that puppy was tarred and feathered, chopped, chromed, toasted!!! I was a bit surprised that you chose to get back into the thread, it didn't

Re: Solder Reflow Problem

Sounds like you have a component problem! I say this because you say the sodler is flowing away from the components (leads I assume) This sounds like none wetting of the component. Do a solderability test on the parts. Take the parts and dip the lead

Re: Driver problems on DIP insertion machine

Electronics Forum | Fri Sep 24 10:43:42 EDT 1999 | Ken Kkoyen

| The machine is a Universal 6796 DIP inserter. The driver card for the X axis burned a couple of resistors and a trace, probably a couple of power transistors too. I had a spare card and put it in. Now on powering-up the machine, the X-Y table mo
