Reflow soldering of Solar panels

Electronics Forum | Wed Apr 21 10:37:34 EDT 2004 | russ

Only the manufacturer of this part can tell you if subjecting the entire assembly through reflow temps is okay. It is not a good assumption that "if a part can be hand soldered it can withstand reflow" there are many connectors/headers/buzzers/etc

Surface mount Machines

We are a high mix low volume company. We run Universl HSP's chipshooters and GSM's for all our oddform components. The combination of this two platforms give us all the versatility that we need. From 0402's 0604's etc. to SMT headers, connectors, yo

Intrusive reflow component selection

Electronics Forum | Mon Jul 10 04:16:03 EDT 2006 | dougs

Hi, We have a new product coming soon that has a fair number of PTH sockets and headers. I was thinking that it would be good to use intrusive reflow on some of them to even up cycle times between SMT and hand insertion, however, when i called t

Solderbridges wave soldering

Electronics Forum | Fri Dec 01 08:09:08 EST 2006 | CK the Flip

Square-leaded pin headers will typically bridge at the trailing edge (last couple of leads), since during peel-back, the solder at the trailing edge has "nowhere to go". If you have control over designs, ask your designers if they can put solder thi

Thermocouple Design

Electronics Forum | Sun Mar 25 15:38:07 EDT 2007 | Gibbon!

Couple of things. Type T thermocouples are solder friendly. However usually a header with screw terminals poses no problem as the temperature differential is nil. Getting thermocouple leads wet causes problems because two dissimilar metals + condu

Steve, I thought these were the same format as the CSM, or very close to it. If so, then your *.BRD file has MNT#, X, Y, R, Nozzle-Skip-Feeder#- LocalFid, Designator, Part. Get rid of the header down to MNT = In Excel parse the file so that you get

Conformal Coat masking

Electronics Forum | Fri Oct 12 09:00:31 EDT 2007 | vargas_s

We've been using a series of relatively high durometer rubber molds to protect male headers from conformal coating here in our facility for quite a while now. They are black in color and are sold in strips that can be cut to desired lengths. Unfortun

Tin Plated Components

Electronics Forum | Fri Mar 18 14:22:37 EDT 2011 | bradbriggs

We recently ran into a situation where a SMT header with tin plated tails would not wet properly during reflow. Someone told us that tin plating has a shelf life and needs to be re-tinned after a length of time. I have not heard of that before. Do
