I am profiling a BGA for the first time and I am seeing temperature flucuations on the ramp and cool down from the thermocouple I have placed through the pcb and under the component. I am using a 5 zone convection oven.Any suggestions on the ploblem

We profiled the BGA, drilled into center and outer balls. Original profile done this way was not hot enough when we actually tried the run, which is why the area engineer began to review and modify the recipe. And I am very sure the balls are 63/37

Does anyone know of a method other than drilling holes in a board to accurately profile a BGA ?

Thank you for advice, But main concern how to detect the problems with BGA on SMT line, and how I can validate "good" or "bad" profile. PS: SPC said that process Cpk 2, temperature profile in the upper spec limit for TAL and peak temperature.

Measure the temperature of the central and edge balls. There should be minimal difference in peak temperature and TAL offset. If not, correct reflow profile. For correct reflow profile your BGA mus be backed befor use.

| Yesterday as I was creating a profile on a plastic BGA using Conceptronics freedom 2000 rework station, I happend to discover that I was able to remove solder bridging from a plastic BGA. | | This is what I did. | | Created a removal profile, I h

Hi Muhammad thanks for the reply. However, this is my current situation. We are currently using some BGA's with this kind of packaging BGA over BGA. I have verified solderability of the main BGA (below Bga the one w/c will be soldered to PCB) using
