yep, thats it. you will need to clean the whole pot. I used some dishwashing wire and Kyzen, and then removed Kyzen residues with IPA.

For low volume hand assembly, deionized water or IPA should work fine.

Evtimov, I am curious...why do you say definitely use solvent ? We have never used it and never had issues. All of our boards go through SPI.

Have you considered Teflon boots over your connectors? 1B31 cleans up quite nicely with IPA. It makes reusable fixture concepts pretty attractive.

I have tried cleaning the pads. That was our first step. Ultrasonic cleaning in acetone and IPA, and also tried etching in a 10% HCL solution. Our board is definitely achieving the correct temperature.

I had the same looking coating on solder joints when we used rosin in IPA. after switching to water based no clean it never happened again.

MC Master has something similar but you pressurize the chamber with a nipple then have the unit disconnected from air.

Agree, PVC tube with a screw on cap at one end. we store in IPA though, cleans it and keeps it from drying out.

we once had a batch of IPA that had rotten smell. changed supplier and problem was solved.
