No-clean flux and high freq. applications?

Electronics Forum | Mon Feb 05 17:29:18 EST 2007 | flipit

I had problems with very simple timing circuits in the kilohertz range with leadfree NC solder pastes. Never saw the problem with lead NC solder paste. Run lead free no clean and clock was off. Run lead no clean and clock was right on.

Pin in paste connectors and lead-free questions

Electronics Forum | Thu Aug 22 23:09:34 EDT 2019 | sssamw

Yes, you need work with supplier to see if can run pin in paste for these connectors, even do some experiments. A step-up stencil would be good for these connectors, also connectors pin size and length match with PCB hole design.

Conductive contamination and the elusive solution

Electronics Forum | Thu Jul 12 16:57:46 EDT 2007 | jmelson

Canyou see this contamination? Is it solder beads, flux or something else? If flux, then more cleaning should help, either more time, more cycles through the cleaner, etc. If it is solder beads that are not melted to the rest of the solder, then s

I agree you are too cold for the profile get it up to 230C and possibly allow it to dwell a little longer in preheat as opposed to pushing up the reflow zone only. Sn90/Pb10 melts at 220C so 2C hotter than your profile so you are reliant on it alloyi

It's driven by those highly technically astute politicians in Europe. IPC has a lead-free forum you can subscribe to and almost to a person in the forum agrees that elimination of lead in solder is assinine. From the automotive end of electronics

The truth about lead-free and environment

Novemer 13, 2001, minutes from the JG-PP Lead-Free Solder project: http://www.jgpp.com/projects/lead_free_soldering/minutes/01novminutes.pdf It seems to me, that although everything was discussed before hand, it wound up being the "Let's do it and

Mix Pb and Pb free alloy

Electronics Forum | Thu May 25 11:31:52 EDT 2006 | muse95

Patrick, I believe you are mistaken about this being a myth. Many component manufacturers changed more than plating to make their component withstand higher temps. Some changed mold compounds, others changed plastic types used. Many of these change

Use and Restrictions of solder containing lead

Electronics Forum | Tue Jun 03 18:34:22 EDT 2003 | Kris

Hi, There have been other studies where it was found that lead-free soloder joints are more reliable than tin-lead solder joints irrespective of test conditions. In fact the automotive industry has been using Sn/Ag for underhood applications for a

Japan and Europe are the main champions for the leadfee solder initiative. USA join in due to global political efforts as one of the cub scout leaderships. Military and Automobile industrial-electronics is exempt from the leadfree directive. Reason

Your opinion about RoHS and WEEE ?

Here's my 10 cents Studies done in the 1980's concluded that pure tin was prone to whisker generation. A tin content lower then 70% became exempt from this phenomenon. I have never seen or done any studies on the impact lead had in reducing the pote
